The verdict
Calories absolutely nails the technical side of healthy eating.
Everything arrived extremely neat, the packaging was excellent, the presentation was clean, and the portions come with very controlled macros: every dish we tried was 400 calories with 32g protein, 32g carbs and 16g fat.
The biggest issue for us was taste. The food was simply too lightly seasoned. There wasn't enough salt or spice, and several dishes felt like they were missing the flavour we expected.
Salt was provided on the side, which helps, but we still think the food itself needs more seasoning. Another good solution could be offering spices or seasoning on the side so customers can adjust the flavour while keeping the meals nutritionally controlled.
Our favourite was the Shrimp Pasta, while the Cheese Pancake was our least favourite.
From a cleanliness, packaging and nutrition-control perspective, Calories did an excellent job. From a flavour perspective, there is definitely room for improvement.
If your priority is strict macros, controlled calories and very clean eating, Calories makes a lot of sense. Perfect if you're serious about your macros — but we'd definitely keep the salt and spices nearby.
