The verdict

What we thought

Le Frengi brings a unique idea to Lebanese street food, putting familiar Lebanese flavors into French-style baguettes made from their own recipe. The baguette itself is one of the highlights — distinctive, fresh and a strong foundation for the concept.

But the real stars were the Frites Rustique Traditionelles. Cooked in coconut oil, they were incredibly crispy and delicious and easily one of our favorite parts of the experience. The Famous Makanek was another standout and one of the strongest sandwiches we tried.

The other sandwiches were good and clearly made with quality ingredients, but the particular combination of spices and sauces wasn't completely to our taste. It's a distinctive twist that may work very well for some people, but for us, a little adjustment to the flavor combinations could take the concept much further.

Overall, Le Frengi has a genuinely original identity, quality ingredients, an excellent baguette and seriously good fries.
